Learning to quilt ignited a passion in me. Over 25 years ago, I started as a strict traditionalist, but later progressed into more contemporary quiltmaking. I now enjoy making my own designs, mixing traditional with modern elements.
Moving into longarm quilting came naturally to me. After unofficially working in the industry for several years, making commissioned quilts and restoring antique quilts, I finally opened Barefoot Quilting by Lea in 2007.
I found that I truly enjoyed helping quilters bring out the best in their quilts. Understanding that quilters come to me at different levels of expertise, I enjoy helping them make their quilt beautiful and special. I believe every quilt is an accomplishment and means something to the maker.
Barefoot Quilting by Lea offers thousands of quilting designs to choose from and hundreds of types /colors of thread. It can sometimes be overwhelming, BUT when you get it right, you end up with a gorgeous quilt.
We've moved around a lot, because of the military, and I’ve held membership in several guilds in North Carolina, California, and Alaska. Now that we are settled in New Bern, I hold membership in three local guilds.
When I’m not quilting, I enjoy traveling with my wonderful husband, reading murder mysteries, and almost never wearing shoes.
